ADACAS work and stories

These videos share stories about ADACAS, our clients and the advocacy work we do.

My Life as an Advocate

Watch Ben as he tells his story about why he became an advocate. Ben learnt a lot about making people feel heard and how to encourage people to speak for themselves.

Moira’s Freedom

Listen to John as he recalls how ADACAS stood beside him and Moira in their fight to maintain power over their own lives when the government tried to control Moira’s independence and freedom of movement.

My Great Life

Kylie moved from the country to the big smoke for school. Today Kylie doesn’t let her cerebral palsy get in the way of living a big life selling the Big Issue, following the Sydney Roosters and loving her large family.

The Bucket

Marbuck was a proud Aboriginal man of the Kooma Nation, a Dad, an Uncle and a Grandfather. Marbuck attended University, but he had a toileting challenge, one which caused a charge under the Biosecurity Waste Act.

Warning: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers are advised that The Bucket video contains images and voices of people who have passed on.

Not a GiverUpperer

Phylli has sailed from Australia to England, won athletics trophies at school and entered Sale of the Century. So naturally she was irritated when she had to repeatedly ask her carers for a comfortable chair.

Our year at ADACAS

Watch our Board Chair, Helen McDevitt give an overview of the 2020 - 2021 year at our AGM.
